The 6-week Get Back on Track programme is your solution to accelerating your dissertation

Are you STUCK? Overwhelmed and off course? Can't make progress?

Join a small group of likeminded students where we resolve common dissertation issues that often get students into trouble.

In just 6 weeks, you’ll be back on on the success track

Dr Rudolph Young

If it was not for Merle, I would never have completed my PhD in time.

Many students NEVER finish their dissertations

Life happens, the school year passes by, perhaps an unfortunate experience with a supervisor, and before you know it, you’re under pressure and stressing…

The Get Back on Track programme offers you a safe space where you will resolve common challenges of a dissertation.
In a small group of students, we work methodically to resolve aspects of masters and doctoral dissertations that most often land students in trouble.

Who is the Get Back on Track programme for?

The programme is for masters and doctoral students in the process of doing their dissertations.

Students who have been studying for some time and need to get going again, as well as students early on in their dissertations will develop basic dissertation skills and conquer high-level challenges.

About the Get Back on Track programme

The programme is limited to a group of 5-10 masters or doctoral students.

It runs online a few times a year.

It works like this:

After signing up, you send me the first three chapters of your dissertation (Introduction, Literature, and Methodology), or wherever you’ve reached to this point.

I read through each student’s work so that I can give individualised guidance through the programme.

I provide weekly content in text or video format on what we’ll be working through in the coming week.

You prepare the relevant chapter or section for the next meeting, applying the principles of the guidance material to your own dissertations.

We meet for 2-3 hours weekly online in the group where we discuss the key principles of a chapter or section. You may choose to present their work during the session for feedback from me and the group.

We work methodically through the Introduction, Literature, and Methodology chapters. At the end of each chapter, you use a checklist to assess your work against principles of best practice.

Then we discuss the analysis approach suitable for each student’s dissertation.

At the end of the 6 weeks, I again read through your work and provide feedback.

What an incredible resource you offer to graduate students Merle Werbeloff! Successful thesis or dissertation completion is the goal, and the support and guidance you provide is exceptional! Students are very fortunate to work with you and learn from your expertise!

Here's exactly what you'll get in the Get Back on Track programme

On registration: Send us your Introduction, Literature, and Methodology chapters of your dissertation, if you have them (in any state).
Participate in group meetings where we work through the following topics:
Week 1: Formulate clearly defined problem and purpose statements, research objectives, and researchable research questions, ensuring alignment with the knowledge gap.
Week 2: Perfect a clearly structured introduction chapter with a coherent argument supported by a theoretical/conceptual framework that addresses the research questions.
Week 3: Examine the literature review, it’s recency and completeness using Google Scholar and AI tools like Research Rabbit and Elicit to complement your citations. Raise the conceptual writing level based on Bloom’s Taxonomy from summarising and describing to synthesis and evaluation.
Week 4: Perfect the literature review chapter with a clear argument. Ensure a structured story including the background, review of the theoretical/conceptual framework(s), and a sound conclusion.
Week 5: Describe the research methodology, study design, unit of analysis, sampling method, instrumentation and measurement  procedure, threats to aspects of reliability and validity (quantitative) or dependability and transferability (qualitative).
Week 6: Perfect the methodology chapter and describe the analysis methods. Feedback from the group. Individualised post-programme feedback.
